Go With Natural Gas Workshops
Fleets can learn about natural gas by attending a Go With Natural Gas workshop in their area. These workshops explain all about natural gas for medium and heavy vehicles including the benefits of using natural gas, available factory-built vehicles, current engine technologies and performance, fuel properties, stations, training, and project implementation. Workshop content can also be downloaded for review. One-on-one meetings can be arranged to discuss specific fleet interests.
Vehicle incentive programs are in place in British Columbia and Quebec.
- FortisBC Natural Gas for Transportation program provides incentive funding of up to 80% of the difference in cost for eligible medium and heavy natural gas vehicles. Eligible applicants include owners or lessors of commercial return-to-base fleet vehicles including highway tractors, vocational trucks including refuse trucks, and school and transit buses.
- Freight Efficiency Program provides one-third of the incremental cost of a medium or heavy natural gas vehicle to a maximum of $15,000 per vehicle. Program scheduled to end on March 31, 2013.
- Accelerated Capital Cost Allowance at a 60% rate applies to 2010-compliant tractors. If the 2010-compliant tractor is also an LNG tractor, there is an additional asset gross up provision of 85% that can be applied before using the 60% accelerated capital cost allowance rate.
